About

More Than A Weekend is mostly a portfolio of my photography. For me, and I hope for you, it becomes more than that. Much of my photography is accompanied by vignettes of my life and experiences, and I hope that this turns into as much a blog of my life as it does a professional presentation of photography.

The Weekend

According to Christian mythologies, Jesus was killed (traditionally on a Friday) and then rose again on Sunday, having taken all of the worlds sins unto himself and thus giving humanity a chance to resolve themselves and gain access into heaven by accepting Jesus as God. The band Brand New has a song that discusses those three days that he was dead. I fell in love with the song years ago.  The song’s name is “Jesus Christ” and it contains the lyrics (in reference to Jesus), “So what did you do those three days you were dead, cause this problem’s gonna last more than the weekend.”  In other words, Brand New raises the question of how could someone solve all the world’s problems (ie, sins, whatever) in one weekend.  It’s going to take more than that.

My feelings behind the title More Than A Weekend are not theological at all.  I think that I am more asking myself to recognize that nothing can be solved “in a weekend,” no matter how powerful you are, so I have to take the time to build trust, appreciate the beauty in the world, and, while we’re waiting for this extended weekend to pass, find ways to solve the problems ourselves.

About Me

Born the oldest of five siblings in the beautiful Bay Area of California, I went to college in Washington state and fell in love with Seattle, where I now reside.  I have left the country every year since 2002, and I have no desire to stop my traveling.  Photography is one of my favorite hobbies, but I am seeking other life experiences including, but not limited to, music, film, art, video games, theatre, politics, history, and increasing amounts of writing.
